Numbers 22:22-23 King James Version (KJV)
22 And God's anger was kindled because he went: and the angel of the LORD stood in the way for an adversary against him. Now he was riding upon his ass, and his two servants were with him.
23 And the ass saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and the ass turned aside out of the way, and went into the field: and Balaam smote the ass, to turn her into the way.

Balaam’s Donkey Rebukes its Owner
22 At this, the anger of the LORD flared up against Balaam, because he was leaving. So the angel of the LORD stood in the way to oppose him. As Balaam was riding his donkey, accompanied by two of his servants, 23 all of a sudden the donkey saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, with an unsheathed sword in his hand! The donkey turned off the road and went into an open field. Balaam started beating the donkey in order to turn her back to the road,

22 The Lord had tried to tell Balaam but Balaam was planning on doing what the he wanted to do often times we act this same way. God sent His angel to prevent him from going.
23 The donkey saw the angel but the prophet couldn’t because he may have not been connected with the Lord anymore because of his direct disobedience. Balaam wanted to go so he mistreats his donkey at no point does he gain sense of the Lord being leader and Him not wanting him to go or does he see the angel because of him only seeing the road ahead that he plans to go down, to many times us seeking what we want means we miss out on what is truly around us.
