Acts 11:8-9 King James Version (KJV)
8 But I said, Not so, Lord: for nothing common or unclean hath at any time entered into my mouth.
9 But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.
Acts 11:8-9 International Standard Version (ISV)
8 But I replied, ‘Absolutely not, Lord, for nothing common or unclean has ever entered my mouth!’ 9 Then the voice from heaven answered a second time, ‘You must stop calling common what God has made clean!’

These are my thoughts, please share yours.
8 Peter would have tried his best to stay clean in action and what he ate; it is very likely most Jews never even came in contact with unclean food. Peter had kept his Jewish diet.
9 This is saying that God made nothing common and that by Him we can eat, we are cleansed not by what we do or what we eat but by what He did for us on the cross.
