With the aim of supporting the international market to discover Israeli solutions in the field of recycling and circular economy, the Israeli Ministry of Economy and Industry inaugurated a government program based on a series of webinars called “Closing the Loop”. In cooperation with different multinational companies and key players in the sector, the virtual meeting took place on February 28, 2022 in Mexico. CLOSING THE LOOP MEXICO: Circular Economy and Recycling had the participation of the environment director in the Environment and Clean Technologies Division of the Administration of the Ministry of Economy and Industry of Israel, Yerushalem Baruch, the commercial attaché of Israel in Mexico , Lior Yafe, the business development director, Estefanía Wood and the coordinator of the SDG Sustainable Financing Project of UN-Environment in Mexico, Enrique Lendo.
In his welcome message, Enrique Lendo warned that currently, worldwide, we live in a triple crisis derived from climate change, the loss of biodiversity and pollution. He highlighted that today, 40% of the world's population is threatened by the effects of climate change, 7 million people in the world die from the effects of atmospheric pollution and 69% of the species that inhabited the planet are found extinct. In this context, he pointed out that " although technologies are important, they alone Saudi Arabia Mobile Number List do not lead us to solve these problems, what we need is an innovation in thinking that implies moving from a linear economy based on extraction, production and waste to a circular economy that focuses on reducing waste from the source, controlling emissions to the environment and reusing products that we incorporate into the ecosystem.
During the event, Clarissa Villareal, manager of sustainability and internal communication at HEINEKEN México, Pablo Fernández, manager of the environmental group at General Motors and Carlos Becerra, creator of Shared Value at Nestlé México, also participated. On the occasion, Clarissa Villareal highlighted that “For HEINEKEN Mexico, the circular economy is not only part of a strategy, it is part of our business DNA and a transversal effort that seeks circularity from operational areas to service areas from the leadership". He added that HEINEKEN Mexico is a company that is aware of the impact it generates in the communities where it operates, which is why since 2016 it has been making efforts that help it implement a circular economy. A clear example is its collaboration with the General MacArthur Foundation by formally joining the Circular Economy 100 group.
