Numbers 22:4-5 King James Version (KJV)
4 And Moab said unto the elders of Midian, Now shall this company lick up all that are round about us, as the ox licketh up the grass of the field. And Balak the son of Zippor was king of the Moabites at that time.
5 He sent messengers therefore unto Balaam the son of Beor to Pethor, which is by the river of the land of the children of his people, to call him, saying, Behold, there is a people come out from Egypt: behold, they cover the face of the earth, and they abide over against me:
Numbers 22:4-5 New King James Version (NKJV)
4 So Moab said to the elders of Midian, “Now this company will lick up everything around us, as an ox licks up the grass of the field.” And Balak the son of Zippor was king of the Moabites at that time. 5 Then he sent messengers to Balaam the son of Beor at Pethor, which is near the River in the land of the sons of his people, to call him, saying: “Look, a people has come from Egypt. See, they cover the face of the earth, and are settling next to me!

4 They were now making an alliance. The world often will group together against us, they can out number us but by Christ we can be stronger, we need to be united with other Christians. This means they are going to claim everything for themselves, God had granted the Israelites the land.
5 So the king goes gets a man who may be able to help against the Israelites. It is common that the world relies on one man but as Christians we don’t need to rely on more then Jesus. The numbers of Israel were many, if they followed the Lord, they could have taken any land but they shouldn’t have trusted in their numbers but this caused fear by their enemies. The true fear should have been in God who they followed.
